I’m not afraid to admit it. The PSP is cool. The video and sound quality is amazing, and for the tiny library it has, it has some very strong games. So how is it that when I bought a PSP, everyone asked me, “Why?” I don’t blame them. The thing is, it is not a handheld gaming system. It is a gadget that just happens to play games. This seems to be Sony’s approach to the gaming market, which probably explains why there’s currently only one or two killer apps for the PS3, with more on the way (Lair, MGS4, FFXIII, Little Big Planet, etc.). The first game I got for my PSP was Tekken: Dark Ressurection. If you haven’t played this, what are you doing with your life? This game alone is worth getting a PSP for. Shortly afterward I ordered a copy of Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. If you’ve been keeping track of the blog for the last several months, you’ll know how much of a Mega Man X fanatic I am. This may be my favorite Mega Man X game, ever. They made the original Mega Man X better, which I didn’t think was possible. But now I have fallen into the Sony trap. I’ve beaten Tekken and Mega Man X, and now I have… an awesome MP3 player. I need a new game. Vallahala Knights looked decent enough before it turned out to suck, and obviously I’ll be picking up Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core the day that game comes out. But for now, what do I get? I’m not the kind of guy that buys a game for a system that came out more than a year earlier, which leaves out stuff like Lumines and Loco Roco. I want something that’s not going to eat up all my time, but that still has a good amount of game in it. Any suggestions?
