So today is the SCAD Career Fair. At it are lots of companies telling people they will never get hired. However, they all have swag, and it is my duty to inform you of the quality of said swag. So, here are just a few examples.
SCAD

I have to give credit to my school, they did a decent job when it came to advertising themselves to students who already go there. They had at least two varieties of pens, one with a bobble head and one with a twisty cap. They also had an entire room devoted to relaxation, which included tables for us game design majors to hang out, brownies, cookies, a masseuse, fortunes, and stress cards. And a big tub of free Dasani. However, not a whole lot of variety amongst all of it. It would have been nice to see some toys in all of it.

Activision

Maaaajor props to Activision. Major props. Their swag was off the chain. Fold-out pens with clips for holding stuff on the end, frisbees, hackey sacks, and bottle-opener keychains, cool business cards with the Raven logo on the back. Not a damn thing was missing. Also, that’s how they introduced themselves. “Welcome to Activision! Take some swag!” I can’t give them anything less than a perfect score.
Swag Rating: 7/7
Lucasarts

Not bad. A decent effort on Lucasart’s part. They had a little flap with lots of photos and portfolio work, and only one picture of George Lucas, whom apparently they just refer to as “George.” Their pen is also badass. It’s got the little Lucasarts guy floating in water. Although I worry about him in there, drowning, with only one little bubble to supply him air. Points off for torturing their own logo.

105.3

I just had to. This booth was too sad to be true. Apparenly 105.3 was recruiting DJ’s? Or sound designers to make the noises of stuff falling out of the closet? I have no idea, but all they had for swag for this clicky pen obviously from Office Max who helped them paste their logo on it. And the woman at the booth just looked sad and pathetic. So, sad woman, only a pen, this is a SWAG Rating of the lowest variety.
