I thought I’d show this off cuz I think it’s cool.

This is the ship I made for my 3D Modeling class. Whether or not I do anything else with it I will not say at this time.

Please please PLEASE improve 3D Studio Max’s layout for the next release. I hate having to look for tiny little buttons on the side when in Maya they appear with a quick press of the Spacebar. Oh, and that’s another thing. There are TOO many keys that will completely screw up whatever you are working on in 3DS Max. Spacebar, X, hell probably every single key except CTRL and ALT will mess you up in a way you can’t predict, and even then CTRL and ALT do that sometimes. I would also recommend making it easier to reset the Viewspace because it is inevitable that the Left, Front, and Top views will get rotated eventually without us noticing. Sure, there’s a View Undo, which is handy, but the View Configuration should be under the View menu and not the Customize menu. Maya = User Friendly. Try to keep that in mind if you ever decide to make another Max.

Spent today reorganizing the design document and updating the page numbers to things I’ve added since it’s creation last spring. It was 35 pages then, now up to 43. But that’s partially in thanks to some well placed page breaks and what not. I’d say I’ve only added 3 or 4 pages of new stuff in total since then. It’s a very nice size right now, although I expect it to grow a little more over time, especially when I start working on Chapters 2 and 3. Plus the Table of Contents is dangerously close to spilling over into page 4 which will bring every page up by 1. Reminds me of that scene in Black Books where Bernard threatens that if Manny doesn’t play the piano he will have to spend the week repricing all the books in the shop because they’ve all just gone up by a penny.

Patriots are going to win it tomorrow. We all know it. But still, to them I say good luck, because I will be unable to watch. I will be at an epic 24 celebration, hosted by the SCAD Activites Council and featuring guest speaker Winrich Kolbe, a film professor here at SCAD who directed 2 hours of Season 1, the first two I actually paid attention to, oddly enough. I don’t think anyone saw where the show was going after the first hour of Season 1. It seemed pretty calm overall, just CSI-like in nature, but then it just went completely out-of-control and Jack Bauer became the badass he is today. Well, the start of it at least. Season 1 Jack is just a shadow of what Jack is now.

Sorry about the lack of new sketch art which I promised a couple weeks ago. May be a while till they’re up, may not, I honestly don’t know. You’ll see them when they’re up though. That’s pretty obvious.

First 3D modeling class today. I haven’t done any modeling in a while so I’m pretty rusty, and I’ve never used 3DS Max which, as of right now, is a pain. Basically what it comes down to is I’ve got the weekend to learn it. If I haven’t learned it by then, I’m out of luck. This should be interesting. And by interesting, I mean stressful. I really need a team for the game. It would really simplify things and take some stress off of me, but right now I’m pretty much responsible for everything and getting nothing done. So all I can do is learn Max, get some stuff done, and pitch it around I guess. Not an easy task but something I’m going to have to do anyway.

In other news, 24 Season 6 in 4 days. Anyone else crapping their pants in excitement?!

I’m 20 now. Don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about that. The one person who was SUPPOSED to remember my birthday DIDN’T, and it was a pretty miserable day on top of that. Such is life. 21 will be better. Coffee, breakfast, beer run.

I’m heading back to Savannah on Monday and starting my first 3D Modeling class. I.E. it is time to actually get some work done on this game.
